Petra Cares raises $600,000 to support foster youth via its automotive career training nonprofit programs.

Petra Cares, the automotive career training nonprofit, announced the success of its second Annual Gala on April 10, 2025. The event took place at The Revaire in Houston, Texas. Petra Cares brought together leaders, advocates and changemakers for a night of generosity, celebration and hope. Supporters raised over $600,000 to uplift foster youth and at-risk young adults facing homelessness.

Mattress Mack Delivers Moving Keynote Address

Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale delivered the keynote address at the Petra Cares Gala. He is a philanthropist and owner of Gallery Furniture in Houston. McIngvale shared a powerful story of resilience, service and generosity.

His message aligned with the values that drive Petra Cares. The audience left deeply moved and inspired to take action.

Gratitude and a Vision for the Future

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of support from our guests, sponsors and partners,” said Brian Meza, executive director of Petra Cares. “Every dollar raised moves us closer to breaking the cycles of poverty, homelessness and instability. Together, we are not only changing lives, we are building a better future for generations to come.”

Honoring Community Champions in Education and Advocacy

Petra Cares honored two outstanding community champions during the evening. They recognized Honorable Judge Eric Andell for his advocacy on behalf of youth and families. They also honored Chuck Kramer, CEO of Kramer Automotive, for his commitment to education and empowerment.

Gala Highlights and the Mission of the Automotive Career Training Nonprofit

Guests enjoyed a lively reception and silent auction to start the night. A gourmet seated dinner followed, paired with an impactful program. The evening also featured a live auction and a fun game of “Heads or Tails.”

Petra Cares will use the funds to support its career training and development programs. The automotive career training nonprofit helps young adults secure employment in the automotive industry and beyond.
